Review: Chewton Glen Hotel & Spa
A magnificent, idyllic and quintessentially English retreat. The Lifestyle Library visited Chewton Glen and came away feeling totally relaxed and well and truly spoilt.
Chewton Glen Hotel and Spa is the perfect escape in the middle of Hampshire. This beautifully manicured 130 acre estate has it all; whether you are looking to relax and be pampered in the luxurious spa, enjoy a fine dining experience in the lavish restaurant or an overnight stay in the stunning hotel or sophisticated tree house suites.
Best For:
Special occasions and anyone needing a little bit of luxury and relaxation.
Things to do:
There really does seem to be something for everyone at Chewton Glen. If like us at TLL total R&R is required, then a visit to the spa is a must. The option is yours; simply lie back and be pampered with a superb choice of beauty treatments or unwind in the 17m swimming pool, hydrotherapy spa pool or the outside whirlpool. If you are going for a treatment we recommend the Natura Bissé Citrus Essence Facial, perfect for anti-ageing and reviving sun-damaged skin.
For the more energetic there is a state of the art gym, a dance studio, 9 hole par-3 golf course, tennis courts and of course acres of beautifully kept grounds if you simply fancy a walk in an English Country Garden. Plus you are on the fringes of The New Forest so the sea is only a 20 minute walk away!
Other facilities:
Chewton Glen is more than just a spa and gym facility. As proven by the 3 lavish dining facilities in the hotel and its recently opened cooking school.
Learn to cook trendy gourmet dishes designed by top chef James Martin using vegetables and herbs grown in the grounds gardens. With over 42 classes to choose from, the Kitchen cookery school has a variety of classes to suit everyone with all types of skills and tastes.
Highlights:
The first thing we would say is that you will be made to feel truly special from the moment you arrive. The staff do their utmost to make your stay memorable, nothing is too much trouble and whilst this is a very sophisticated hotel and setting it is also very relaxed at the same time, so it had the perfect balance.
Plus a special mention has to go out to the food; our evening meal was particularly divine. We opted for the thai lobster curry and felt the staff expertly guided us throughout the whole meal, ensuring we had wines that complimented our food choices and were well looked after.
Improvements:
None that we can think of…they really have thought of everything!
Cost: The Kitchen cookery school experiences start from £185. Spa packages from £145.
Rating: 5 TLL star’s
