HEALING HANDS: REIKI

HEALING HANDS: REIKI

Reiki is a healing technique used to balance the body’s energy and create a state of equilibrium. ‘Reiki’ pronounced (ray-key) is Japanese for ‘Universal life energy’ and a word used to describe a way of natural healing.
Developed in the early 20th Century by Japanese Buddhist Mikao Usui, Reiki has adapted and evolved through research, cultures and experience but in essence Reiki treatments help the body to emotionally and spiritually find a natural state of happiness and wellbeing.
Being one of the most highly regarded, A-lister loved and interesting holistic treatments available, its time to find out more how hands really can heal and how Reiki could help you.

HOW WILL IT BENEFIT ME?
Reiki is channelled through the practitioner’s hands into the patient through touch, this activates the flow of energy and brings not only deep relaxation and clarity but actively helps to reduce negative feelings, sparking a sense of positivity and strength from within.
Many believe that Reiki gives them a sense of purpose and focus and is also known to enhance the benefits of other therapies, making it a great treatment to include alongside other therapies to boost and accelerate the natural healing process.

INSIDER: INTERVIEW WITH REIKI EXPERT HEIDI REARDEN

We interviewed Reiki teacher and… Heidi Rearden to find out how she got into Reiki and the results you can expect to see from having regular sessions-

Q.How did you discover Reiki?

• After nearly 20 years of practicing Nichiren Daishonin’s Buddhism, in 2003, I was searching for practical ways of accessing better health. I began to be interested in studying different types of healing. Through a workshop in London, I was introduced to Reiki as one of the modules being taught. After my first practice session in the workshop, the person I was giving Reiki to said she’d never felt so loved! What an amazing experience and energy, I thought.

Q. Why are you so passionate about it?

A. I’m so passionate about Reiki because to me it is a true path of heart based holistic therapy. For me Reiki is an enabling energy that encourages one’s on body to heal itself. I use my buddhist practice while giving Reiki, chanting to myself as I pass on the energy for the best possible outcome for the Reiki client.

Q. What results can you expect to experience from having regular Reiki sessions?

The Reiki clients that I have who have regular sessions all come back because they feel deep benefit from the sessions. One woman came to see me because she was in a very unhappy relationship and in a very stressful job. After several sessions she resolved the issues in her relationship, was happier at work and felt better about her self and her life. I passed the Reiki energy on to her and she did the work to transform her life.

A. Do you have an example of a patient who has overcome something physically or mentally as a result of Reiki?

Many of my clients experience less stress and experience a calmness and happiness in their lives having regular Reiki session. People who tend to hold physical stress and tension in their bodies also experience a release and balance in themselves through regular sessions. Reiki works on the emotional and physical levels and each person accepts and uses the energy in the best way for their own bodies and lives.
DID YOU KNOW?
One reiki treatment is physiologically said to be the equivalent of 3 to 4 hours deep sleep.
