She’s famed for being our Tina on Coronation Street and the star of Our Girl, but now Michelle Keegan looks set to take another industry by storm – fashion.
The actress has launched her first clothing collection with Very.co.uk, and since we’re always big fans of Michelle’s style, it seems fitting.
We caught up with Michelle for a chat about her new venture:
How would you describe your first collection for Very?
I am so excited about my new range for Very.co.uk because it really taps into all pieces I would want for my own wardrobe. I have a really busy lifestyle and within the new collection I have gorgeous tailored separates I can wear to a meeting or lunch date, I have denim and a fantastic leather jacket for a more dressed down look and I have stunning embellished and sophisticated dresses for that special night out or event. As part of the Very collection I have also designed a line of active wear, loungewear and homeware which has been completely new to me. I’ve really enjoyed the challenge!
If you could see any celebrity wearing your collection who would it be?
I have always said I love Jessica Alba’s style. She always looks amazing so to see someone like that wearing my collection would be absolutely amazing! But I’m actually really excited to see the Very customer wearing my collection, it will be such a buzz to be in a bar and see someone who is wearing one of my Very pieces – I can’t wait for that!
Do you have any favourite pieces in the collection?
My favourite piece would be the gorgeous tuxedo dress, it is absolutely perfect for a night out. I would style it with cute ankle boots and it could work for dinner with the girls or a date night.
Describe your style…
I have to travel a lot for work so my style during the day is quite casual. I love wearing jeans and a cute top with just a nice leather jacket, the one in the Very collection is a classic style and can be worn again and again. Then if I am going out in the evening I really enjoy getting a little bit dressed up and wearing a nice dress of skirt and top, something to make me feel a bit special.
What is your go-to look?
My go to daytime look would be skinny jeans, a great tailored blouse and leather jacket. For a night out my go to is always a LBD.
What three staples should every woman have in her wardrobe any why?
A fantastic coat which is tailored and can be worn with anything. In my Very range I have an amazing pastel pink coat which can look great over jeans or a smarter dress. Leather trousers, because you can dress them up or style them down. They are so versatile and can instantly complete a look. A showstopping dress; in the Very collection there is a maxi dress which is covered with beads and embellishment. The detail is amazing and it is designed to make you feel completely special when you wear it.
What are your style rules when it comes to dressing for a night out?
A rule I listen to when dressing for any occasion is make sure you are comfortable. If you are not sure about an outfit or don’t feel comfortable before you go out you will definitely hate what you are wearing later in the night. Always try and be true to yourself and our own style, confidence is the most attractive look.
What will you be wearing this Autumn Winter?
I am going to be shooting in Malaysia until December so Autumn Winter fashion won’t start for me until I am home for Christmas! What I love most about the season is layering. I am going to be wearing either jeans or leather trousers with a grey knit or tailored shirt and a great coat over top.
Do you have a specific exercise routine?
I don’t have a specific exercise routine at the moment, I am filming 6 days a week and long hours so when I get home at the end of filming the last thing I want to do is go to the gym. So at the moment I am just exercising at weekends. I try to have a balanced diet but don’t believe in depriving yourself so if I have a bad day one day I will try and eat a little better the next. I think it is all about balance.
Michelle’s collections are the latest celebrity collaboration for Very.co.uk and includes pieces across homes and fashion, with prices ranging from £18 – £269.
